Imagine receiving a call out of the blue one afternoon
from Sir Ben Kingsley or Cate
Blanchett suggesting they'd like to drop
by for a friendly visit in your living room.
Several times each year, much like that, The Cell
is honored to host some of the world's most accomplished
screen actors in an informal dialog with members of
the regional acting community. Our professional ties
between Equity -- the stage union -- and the Screen
Actors Guild (SAG), and our comfortable, intimate
space, make this an ideal and friendly locale for
serious professionals to share trade tips, anecdotes,
and reminiscences.
Sponsored and organized by the SAG
Foundation, these visits are a regular benefit
for professional screen actors. The"Conversations"
are part of a national speaker series designed for
high profile actors and Screen Actors Guild members
to share their experience and knowledge to help educate
and motivate Guild members on how to sustain their
passion for acting, and to reinforce the value of
training and self-sufficiency. Loosely modeled on
the Bravo television series hosted by James Lipton,
our "Conversations" series
are unscripted and candid discussions with leading
artists, moderated expertly by local actor and Guild
member, Tom
Schuch. Typically, the guest artist spends
about an hour with us -- sometimes more -- during
which they'll engage in a discussion with Tom; then,
if they're so inclined (most are), they'll respond
to questions posed by the audience.
Admission to these events is normally limited to
active members of the Screen Actors Guild and the
Actors Equity Association. However, we occasionally
have a few additional seats available for FUSION Theatre
Company subscribers. When available,
we'll email our subscribers --usually, because of
the circumstances, with little advance notice -- and
accept reservations for the free events on a first
reply, first accommodated basis. Attendance is strictly
by reservation only and not all who wish to come can
be accommodated. If you'd like to spend an evening
with luminaries like Sir Ben and Cate, we invite you
to subscribe! Let us know who you are and your interest
by adding your name to our mailing
list.
